Japanese dogs! わんわん♪

Hello!!

Today,I'm going to introduce about Japanese dogs.

There are many japanese dogs in japan. dogs are famous.There were 35 dogs in japan, however 12 of 35 dogs were already extinct. Now 6 Japanese dogs are famous. That 6 breeds are Akita-Inu, Shiba-Inu, Kishu-Inu, Kai-Ken, Shikoku-Ken, and Hokkaido-Ken.

They are hardry dogs, and they also have good characters. Japanese dogs are faithful to their master. Therefore Japanese dogs are loved by Japanese and also foreign people. Thses 6 breeds of dogs are specified for a protected animal.

First, I'm going to introduce about Akita-inu. Akita-Inu have been breed to hunt, therefore they sometime show aggressive tendencies toward small animals. Akita-Inu is one of the oldest dogs. Today, Akita-Inu developed primarly from northernmost region of the island of Honshu(本州) in the Akita prefecture, thus providing the breed's name. In 1931, Akita-Inu was specified a protected animals.

Shiba-Inu

It was originally bred for hunting and also it is similar to the appearance with Akita-Inu.

Shiba-Inu is the smallest of the 6 original Japanese dogs. Espaecially there is very small Japanese dog. People are called it "Mamesiba(豆柴)". "Mame" means "bean" in Japanese. Originally, Shiba-Inu was bred tu hunt rabbits. However today people kept it as a pet in Japan and another countries.

Kishu-Inu

Kishu-Inu is developed there for thousands of years. This breed is similar to Akita-Inu and Shiba-Inu. The coat color is generally white.

In 1934, Kishi-Inu was specified for a protected animal.

Kai-Ken

Kai-Ken is breed of dog that hails from Japan where it is a national treasure and it has been for centuries. Kai-Ken is considered to be the most ancient and purest dog breed in Japan.

Shikoku-Ken

Shikoku-Ken is a native, primitive Japanese breed of dog from Shikoku Island. It is similar to Shiba-Inu. Shikoku-Ken was bred for hunting for deer and boar in the mountain. In 1937, Shikoku-Ken was specified for a protected animal.

Hokkaido-Ken

Other names called for Ainu-Ken. It is similar to Akita-Inu, and a breed brought by Ainu people from Tohoku region in the Jomon period. In 1937, the Ministry of Education designated the breed a natural monument, and officially named it Hokkaido-Ken.
